Scientist, Cell Therapy R&D

Mission
Drive the development of CellFiber’s cutting-edge fiber technology by generating robust proof-of-concept data using diverse cell types through internal and external collaborations.
Lead scientific discussions, address key biological questions, and design experiments that demonstrate feasibility for industrial cell manufacturing.
Independently plan and execute daily laboratory activities in a dynamic start-up R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
<Execution of laboratory activities>
• Daily experimental design & execution followed by biosafety laboratory regulations and documentation
• Conduct proof-of-concept studies with fiber technology (including, but not limited to immune cells, iPSCs and MSCs) based on projects
• Establish protocols of cell-based assays (e.g., FACS and ELISA etc.) and statistical data analysis
• Continuously improve and systemize experimental workflows to enhance reproducibility and operational efficiency across team members

<Internal/External collaborations>
• Be knowledgeable and capable of demonstration with external collaborators about fiber technology and operations
• Perform efficient communication and cross-functional collaborations with internal teams by company priorities
• Provide up-to-date information/conclusive scientific results to the marketing team for customer-facing discussions

<Scientific communication>
• Be able to conduct literature- and/or data-driven scientific discussions internally and externally
• Be knowledgeable with the up-to-updated industrial information of cell therapy development
• Present CellFiber R&D data at scientific conferences worldwide
• Document and share best practices, experimental learnings, and improvement outcomes to strengthen organizational knowledge base
Must Have
• Experience of primary cell culture (e.g., T, γδT or NK cells) in biosafety laboratory
• Experience of cell-based assay development (FACS, ELISA and/or cytotoxicity) & protocol establishment
• Perform robust scientific communication in Biology and statistical data analysis/visualization
• Understanding and familiar with daily operation of Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and data management
• To-do and can-do attitude in fast-paced start-up work environment
• Fluent in English
Nice to Have
• Experience of iPSCs culture, differentiation and characterization
• Experience of cell engineering processes (e.g., viral transduction and CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing etc.)
• Familiar with industrial cell manufacture development/equipment
• Experience of customer-facing discussions and technical assistance
• Project management experience
• Conversational Japanese skills
