Director of Finance

Mission

You will drive the company’s core management functions from fundraising execution to building a robust finance and business management structure, and optimizing company-wide operations. You will lead investor communications, earn trust, and provide cross-functional leadership to execute our growth strategy. Ultimately, your mission is to steer sustainable value creation for the company.

Key Responsibilities

＜Fundraising Execution＞
• Build investor-ready financial models and execution plans aligned with our growth strategy.
• Develop and articulate a compelling equity story, including use of funds, milestones, and value drivers.
• Support capital policy design, shareholder relations, and equity/stock option administration.
• Prepare and update pitch decks, DD materials, and related documentation.
• Act as the primary contact for VC firms, financial institutions, securities firms, and auditors.

＜Finance & Management Infrastructure＞
• Design and maintain a management framework that links strategy to operations.
• Lead company-wide KPI design and implementation.
• Manage cash flow, funding plans, and annual budgeting.
• Conduct regular budget vs. actual analysis and drive corrective actions.

＜Operational Excellence＞
• Map and optimize cross-functional workflows to match the company’s growth stage.
• Standardize processes and decision-making across departments.

＜Governance & Risk Management＞
• Strengthen compliance frameworks and drive internal adoption.
• Identify contractual/operational risks and propose mitigation plans.
• Support audits and regulatory requirements.

Must Have

• 3+ years of experience in financial planning, business planning, or new business development in a startup or operating company
• Hands-on experience in cash management and cash-flow planning
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and coordination skills
• Project management experience
• Experience leading cross-functional process improvement or standardization
• Executive-level communication and decision-making ability.
• Business-level Japanese and English

Nice to Have

• Experience with grants or subsidies
• Practical fundraising experience
• Experience implementing IT systems or security measures
• Experience in governance and compliance
• CPA, tax accountant, MBA, or comparable credentials
