– Enabling large-scale cell manufacturing for regenerative medicine and advanced cell therapy products –
Tokyo, Japan — May 26, 2026 —
CellFiber Co., Ltd., a biotech company pioneering next-generation cell culture technology, has announced that it officially named its cell encapsulation system brand “Zeito™” (pronounced “Zeito”) on May 25, 2026, in preparation for the full-scale launch of the product in Japan and the United States.
In conjunction with the brand name decision, the following two products have been renamed. Please note that there are no changes to the specifications or functionality of these products.
Cell Encapsulation System — New Brand Name
Zeito™
■ Cell Encapsulation System — New Product Names
・Zeito™ Plus Cell Encapsulation System (formerly: CellFiber Extruder)
・Zeito™ Lite Cell Encapsulation System (formerly: CellFiber SSP)
In December 2025, CellFiber announced the Zeito™ Plus Cell Encapsulation System (formerly the CellFiber Extruder), its GMP-compliant cell encapsulation system designed to enable large-scale cell manufacturing for regenerative medicine and advanced cell therapy products. The system was developed with support from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) under the Venture Innovation and Cultivation Leading Environment (ViCLE) program, and from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) through the Deep Tech Startup Support Fund/Deep Tech Startup Support Program.
The system is specifically designed for GMP-compliant mass culture of cells in cell manufacturing, enabling large-scale cell encapsulation with stable, standardized, and streamlined processes. The system reduces overall manufacturing time while simultaneously enhancing cell function through optimized culture conditions.
The Zeito™ Lite Cell Encapsulation System (formerly the CellFiber SSP) is a benchtop device intended for cell encapsulation in early-stage research, as previously offered.
The brand name and product renaming have been decided in anticipation of the upcoming sales launch and promotional activities for both products in Japan and the United States.
■ Origin of the New Brand Name “Zeito™”
“Zeito” is a coined word combining “Zeit,” the German word for “time,” and “Ito,” the Japanese word for “thread” or “fiber.” “Zeit” reflects the efficient cell therapy development process enabled by CellFiber® technology. “Ito” draws on the Japanese word for thread, symbolizing the connection to the fiber structure. “Zeito” also relates to a Greek-derived expression meaning “longevity” and “living with vitality,” aligning with CellFiber’s mission to contribute to the advancement of the cell therapy industry and improve patients’ quality of life.
CellFiber will continue to advance the deployment of cell culture systems utilizing CellFiber® technology in Japan and globally through the Zeito™ brand product line, supporting the broader adoption of regenerative medicine and cell therapy.
◆About CellFiber® Technology
CellFiber® is CellFiber’s proprietary next-generation cell culture platform designed to enable the efficient production of high-quality cells. The technology is based on an encapsulation method that forms tube-like alginate hydrogel structures, which protect cells during culture. Compared with conventional methods, cells cultured using CellFiber® technology show improved preservation of cell function, viability, and enhanced cell uniformity. With the inauguration of the Zhubei automated smart factory—the largest smart facility of its kind in Asia—the manufacturing process using CellFiber® has been integrated into an automated production line.
